To pay close attention and listen carefully to someone.

Said when a person you were just talking about suddenly appears.
What is "Speak of the devil"?
To reveal a secret, often prematurely or accidentally.
What is "Spill the beans"?
To hear news or rumors through informal, indirect gossip.
What is "Through the grapevine"?
To avoid talking about the main point because it is uncomfortable.
What is "Beat around the bush"?
To repeatedly call for help when you do not need it, so that people do not believe you later.

Undecided between two choices.
What is "On the fence"?
To risk everything on a single venture or plan.
What is "Put all your eggs in one basket"?
To view a statement or news with skepticism; not taking it completely literally.
What is "Take it with a grain of salt"?
o argue against an idea just to test its strength, even if you agree with it.

To allow someone to escape trouble, punishment, or an obligation.
